Our Classroom Website

Welcome!

This the class website for Ms. Embry's 2nd grade class. I will be updating the website every week with information on it regarding what is going on in your child's classroom, as well as school events. The criteria that your child is learning each week will also be available on this page. I am excited to have your child in class this school year and I hope we can work together to make it the most influential learning environment for your child.

Schedule

7:40-7:55: Pick lunch choice and morning work in the hallway (either math or language arts work)

7:55-8:05: Go into the classroom, unpack/hang up backpacks, and get materials ready for class

8:05-8:10: Listen to morning anouncements

8:10-8:25: Finish morning work and go over answers

8:25-9:15: Language Arts (This week we will be discussing retelling stories and how characters major events in the story)

9:15-10:15: Specials (M: Music/Library; T: Gym/Computers; W: Music/Library; Th: Gym/Computers; F: Fun Friday - Gym/Computers)

10:15-11: Mathematics (We will be looking at word problems using addition or subtraction)

11-11:10: Bathroom Break before lunch

11:10-11:25: Lunch (Lunch choices for the week in table below)

11:25-12: Science (we will be describing objects/materials by their observable properties/appearances

12-1:10: Writing (we will be reading a number of books this week and students will be to write about a topic regarding the book read each day)

  • Wednesday: The art teacher will be here during this time
  • Friday: Free write Fridays

1:10-1:20: Bathroom break

1:20-2: Recess (location depends on weather)

2-2:10: Bathroom/Water Break

2:10-2:30: Pack up backpacks, complete classroom jobs, and watch The Magic School Bus  until announcements

2:30-2:40: Line up students and listen to announcements

2:40: Dismissal

 

Announcements

Next week, I am planning on have the students complete a science project in class that includes the following materials:

  • tissues
  • pipe cleaners
  • construction paper
  • paper clips
  • bottle caps
  • popsicle sticks

PLEASE help up by sending these items in with your child by this Friday.
